When approached by Mind to build the guitar établle gave a lot of thought to the project especially the materials to use. They wanted to use materials that were of the highest quality but also special and meaningful wherever possible. For the guitar top they selected Hawaiian Koa which is an excellent tonewood providing a rich and complex sound. Koa is only grown in Hawaii where it is protected and carefully harvested. It is an incredibly beautiful wood which represents integrity, courage and strength having been used for centuries to build canoes, furniture and musical instruments and used to be reserved for Hawaiian royalty.
The body is English walnut which complements the Koa beautifully. Ziricote has been selected for the neck and fretboard which has a distinctive appearance and excellent sound. Jasper stone has been used for the logo on the headstock which is widely held to be a nurturing stone with an energy of peace, calm and tranquility. The mind logo on the fretboard has been inlaid with crushed sapphire, believed to have properties of protection, healing and calming.
These special materials have been combined with high quality hardware with the mind logo custom etched on Bare Knuckle pickups, a Schaller Hannes bridge and custom finished Sperzel Trim Lok tuners.
