Story

I’m taking part in a charity boxing match to raise money for cancer research and also to raise money to let people know to challenge their diagnosis

My Grandad was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer in November 2022, he was told he had type 2 diabetic in April 2022… he’d never been any where near a diabetic

Grandad kept loosing weight but told by his GP surgery, (nurses and Doctors) that it was due to his diabetes (we know different now).  No one could accept this in our family and we pushed for a CT scan after he lost so much weight!!!!

After they finally agreed to an CT scan the GP told grandad it was inoperable pancreatic cancer and the local hospital backed it up giving grandad 6-10 months to live

Our family could not, and would not believe this, so we searched trials, consultants and more time to spend with Grandad.  Grandad after all and there when we all need him, he loves watching the footy and coming to watch my refereeing games….

An amazing NHS consultant surgeon emailed our family as we were looking for help after our local trust wrote grandad off to say that though grandad was not suitable for a trial he thought he maybe suitable for surgery.

Grandad was fit and healthy and really well so he fought and thanks to his surgeon elsewhere who believe in him and actually have a a shit and after a huge operation grandad had his pancreas, spleen, duodenum, gallbladder, part of his stomach and bowel and a vein resection removed but he’s now CANCER FREE!!! From a few months to a life of having memories….. I want to support cancer research

People matter, cancer isn’t a death sentence and we need to support change… Please support we need change and postcode lottery should not determine our lives or that of our family

PANCREATIC CANCER ISN'T ALWAYS A DEATH SENTENCE! Challenge
