Campaign by Bowel Cancer UK (RCN 1071038)
Surgeons Quarter and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh staff have teamed up to fundraise for Bowel Cancer UK. We're supporting their Improving Surgery, Saving Lives appeal and raising awareness of the disease.

Story

As the proud owner of one of Scotland's most semi-functional bowels:

  • I have a one in 15 chance of developing bowel cancer
  • If I did, I would be one of 10 people diagnosed that day in Scotland
  • If I was one of the 2 in 5 of people diagnosed in the early stages I would have a 97% chance of long-term survival
  • If I wasn't so lucky that would drop to just 8%

I don't know about you, but I don't like those odds. On 27th October I will be running the Jedburgh Half Marathon to raise Money for Bowel Cancer UK, who will be undertaking pioneering research in Scotland to make sure that these statistics look an awful lot better for the people diagnosed with this terrible disease.

I would be very grateful for any donation that you can make.
