Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the Edinburgh University Men's Hockey Club (EUMHC) JustGiving page. "Coronavirus has thrown all our lives, our communities and the UK into an unprecedented crisis. Families who were already struggling now find themselves unable to afford food and other essentials." - Action for Children. After listening to Action For Children and listening to how they are responding to Coronavirus, as a Club, we knew we had to act. "Action for Children’s Emergency Coronavirus Appeal will help us to cover the costs of basic essentials, such as food, nappies, cleaning products and gas and electricity for families facing crisis. £10 could pay for nappies and wipes for a baby/toddler for two weeks. £30 could buy new bedding for a child, ensuring they’re warm. £50 could pay for a card meter for gas and electricity for a family. £100 could pay for four children or parents who are experiencing mental health difficulties to each have an online support session. £150 could buy a new washing machine for a family of five after theirs has broken down. £200 could pay for emergency food packages for two families". -Action for Children As you may or may not know the EUMHC were meant to go on tour to Lloret de Mar, but for obvious reasons we cannot go. Instead of sulking, we thought we would turn this into something positive by raising money for Action for Children. Each team (current and alumni) will race the 1,163 miles from our home territory of Peffermill Playing Fields to Lloret de Mar, Spain. Of course we can't actually race there so the app Strava will record every teams distance and the first to reach 1,162 miles will be the winners. Everyone is welcome to join. Simply pay a £10 entrance fee to the team that you identify with. Good luck and Stay Safe! EUMHC
