Sands supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, works in partnership with health professionals to try to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care and funds research that could help to reduce the numbers of babies dying and families devastated by this tragedy.

Story

On the 5th January 2010 our beautiful daughter Eva was born, she was rushed to the neonatal unit where she tragically died the next day. We discovered that she had an illness we had not heard of before, ARPKD which is a genetic condition. After Eva died SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity) were an incredible support to me and my wife, they helped us through a very dark and difficult time and continue to do so 12 years on.

I started running as a way to raise money in memory of Eva. I ran my first 10k in May 2015 raising money for Aberdeen SANDS. After running many more 5ks, 10ks, 1/2 marathons and marathons, I’m now proud to be running for them again on October 2nd 2022 at the London Marathon.

My wife and I have always been so honoured by the generous donations friends and family have continued to give in memory of Eva. This will always mean so much to us.

Please support me in my goal of raising as much money for the SANDS charity to help the charity continue to support bereaved families, research and work with health professionals to ensure every bereavement family in the UK receive the best care possible.
