Glasgow Kiltwalk 2023 · 30 April 2023 ·

Family members try and do all they can to support someone with an alcohol or drug problem. There are many people in Scotland who are doing this on their own and in silence. Your donations will help us to continue our work supporting families across Scotland.

Story

We will be taking part in the 23 mile-long Mighty Stride Kiltwalk between Glasgow Green and Loch Lomond Shores, Balloch on 30th April to raise money for the charity Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs.

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs is a national charity that supports anyone concerned about someone else’s alcohol or drug use in Scotland. They give listening support and information to many people and help them with confidence, communication, general wellbeing, and link them into local support. SFAD’s support services include our Routes Young Person’s Support Service and National Bereavement Support to anyone who has lost a loved one to a drug or alcohol related death. They also help people recognise and understand the importance of looking after themselves. Also and provided is SFAD’s National Naloxone Click and Deliver service, in which anyone in Scotland over the age of 16 can order Naloxone, the lifesaving drug that reverses the effects of an Opioid overdose.

We hold the firm belief that families of those with drug and alcohol issues should feel visible, supported, and empowered in feeling best able to support both their loved ones and themselves as individuals. Eve became involved with SFAD in 2019 as a volunteer helpline advisor and has been a member of the team, initially as the Helpline Support Assistant in January 2021 and currently works as the Family Support Assistant for the Inverclyde Family Support Service.

We would greatly appreciate any donations to this incredibly worthwhile cause and hope to keep all those kind enough to do so up to date with our pre-Kiltwalk training (eek)!

Thanks so much,

Shannon and Eve
