Story
It’s with a broken heart that I write that our incredible Mum passed away on 10 January 2021. Mum was diagnosed with inoperable and incurable pancreatic cancer on 06 November. On Friday 08 January she was due to start palliative chemotherapy. Mum’s treatment plan wasn’t scheduled until 2 months after her diagnosis, this time lag is unacceptable and took too long as she sadly never got a chance to start treatment and continue her fight (unfortunately the cancer had spread by then, which caused a whole host of other health issues). Throughout this ordeal she remained dignified and positive. Not once did she feel sorry for herself, display any kind of bitterness and I didn’t even witness her shed a tear. She was forever smiling and laughing, and is the bravest, most selfless person I have ever met. I will try and be more like her everyday. She was the proudest and best Granny (Gaga), it’s all she ever wanted and I will tell my boys every day how much she loved and doted on them. Her purpose was her family and my heart aches for all the memories we won’t get to make. She was taken far too soon and still had so much more to give and live for but will remain forever in our hearts and memories. RIP beautiful lady, you really were one of a kind in the best possible way 💜
Mum did so much for others and raised £1000’s for charities, in particular FSID, after we lost my sister, so it seems fitting that we continue to raise money and awareness for the disease that took her 💜
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need 💜
