Story

Thank you for visiting Brian Doyle's fundraising page.

The blue colouring indicates the most recent updates made on 29 September 2007.

In addition to the impressive sum raised above, to date, I have sent cheques totalling £4,208 to CMMC - Charity.

As you may already know I am trying to raise funds in memory of Evelyn to purchase a hospital bed and equipment for haematology patients on Ward 27 of Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Evelyn was first diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma ( a cancer of the bone marrow ) in 2002 and spent various periods of time on Ward 27 as she underwent treatment. Always thinking of others, just prior to her death at the end of 2006, Evelyn asked her family to raise funds for a "super dooper" hydraulic bed so that other patients could benefit from the comfort this type of bed brings.

To this end family and friends have embarked on a number of different fund raising projects.

Cookery Demonstration - 25 September 2007

I am delighted to report that we raised a massive £846 at the recent cookery demonstration in Wetherby. Sincere thanks to Lionel Strub ( Yorkshire Chef of the Year ) who presented both an informative and entertaining evening. Thanks also to Aileen and John Dunlop for their efforts in organising the evening so well and to the 80 people who attended contributing so generously to our appeal.

15k Cross Training Marathon - 5 September

As mentioned previously Paul Hebbourn had intended to take part in the Perth 10k due to take place in September but this event has since been cancelled. However Paul is now participating in the above event and will donate his sponsorship raised to our funds. Many thanks Paul.

Snowdon Sponsored Walk

On 30th June 2007, Caroline and I, along with David and Shona Clark ( from Aberdeen ), Christeen Sievwright, David, Fraser, Eilidh and Stuart Magill  ( from Perth ), Jenny Rarity ( from London ), John Dunlop ( from Wetherby ) Tony Keary, Paul, Paula and Michael Nott ( from Manchester )  successfully climbed 3,500 feet to the top of Snowdon. A tremendous achievement in dreadful weather conditions. As a result a further £1,200 has been raised towards our cause. Many thanks everyone.

Stuart Magill also presented me with a cheque for £140 from Dunbarney Primary School and is included in the above figure. This impressive sum represents the profit generated by the pupils of the Primary 7 class who produced and sold a school newspaper. Really well done and thanks to you all.

I am pleased to report that Fiona and Dom Fraser successfully completed both the Edinburgh 10k and Manchester 10k runs. They have generated over £150 of Sponsorship. A late, but very welcome addition, to our team is Jan Riley who also ran on our behalf in the Manchester 10k. All three of them clocked highly impressive times and have done a wonderful job in raising funds "offline". We are very appreciative of their efforts. Many thanks.

The "young" Sievwrights are also actively involved offline, as is Jane Tipping, who is raising funds through making and selling cards. Thanks to you all.

Aileen Dunlop has also been raising funds on our behalf by doing talks on the American Civil War. Thanks Aileen for all your hard work.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Central Manchester & Manchester Children's University Hospitals Charity will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Please donate generously.

Many thanks for your support.
