Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am attempting to do an Everesting ride of Boscastle Hill Here in Cornwall in Memory of my Grandad, David Benford.
This will involve 30,000ft of climbing , only one hill, 45 times up and down! Around 12/15 hours riding continuously , maybe more and why? Well read below :)
I will be riding Boscastle hill which is 1.8 miles in length 42 times with my Team mate James Cartlidge who is also fundraising for Starlight . for locals you will know it as the spar to camelford side of the climb, so up the switchback, left at the petrol station, up through the wooded area toward camelford.
I am doing this challenge to commemorate it to my Grandad, David Benford who sadly passed away in August 2013 on the 6th. He suffered dearly from a lung condition called Pulmonary fibrosis which causes . (literally "scarring of the lungs") is a respiratory disease in which scars are formed in the lung tissues, leading to serious breathing problems.
Despite suffering so badly from this he never complained or showed that he was in pain or discomfort, he always taught me and my family to enjoy life, do what makes you happy and always stay strong even through very tough times. He was a huge rock to my Nan my uncle simon, my Dad and Mum , aunties and also all of us as grandchildren aswell as the rest of the family and friends.
He fought the awful disease till the end when he very sadly passed away on august 6th 2013 and to this day the thought never goes away but time does heal us. if i could do anything to bring him back i would because he will always be missed for the great person he was.
I cannot thank him enough or be proud of him enough for how much of a great person he was & the great role model he was.
I will do all i can to complete this everesting ride for him there will be some tough points, some high points , some low points but to do this in his memory is a huge privileged , to dedicate it to him for the life he lived and for the colour and light that he gave it.
Rest in peace Grandad!
