Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, your support is very much appreciated!
June 19th marks World Sickle Cell Day and "EvRy" - Events by Salt has decided to give back and take on a sponsored balloon challenge to raise awareness about the Sickle Cell disorder and raise funds to support those who are in need of support and care!
Sickle cell can affect anyone, although it predominantly affects people from African and Caribbean backgrounds. Approximately 15,000 people in the UK have the sickle cell disorder and approximately 350 babies are born with this disorder every year in the UK.
The main symptoms of sickle cell disorder are anaemia and episodes of severe pain. The pain occurs when the cells change shape after oxygen has been released. The red blood cells then stick together, causing blockages in the small blood vessels. This is why it is so important to support charities like The Sickle Cell Society who help improve the quality of life of individuals and families affected by this disorder.
Please support me (Jayde aka Salt) as I take on a balloon stylist challenge (as a complete balloon stylist BEGINNER) to create a balloon display in recognition of Sickle Cell Awareness. Using 150 balloons to represent 1/100th of those who have been diagnosed with the Sickle Cell disorder. I will do this challenge should we reach the target!
All donations make the difference to the work of the charity. I would really appreciate your support to help make a difference! Thank you for helping us to "give away to give back"!
Please share with friends, family, work colleagues, social channels - email LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp to help spread the word and reach the target.
Wish me luck! x
