15 of the team at Elliott Wood are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise money for S.A.R.A.I.D. One of our engineers is currently a trainee search and rescue technician and engineer for S.A.R.A.I.D., once fully trained they will be on standby to be deployed as part of their disaster response team, whenever and wherever they are needed.
S.A.R.A.I.D is a charity dedicated to trying to save the lives of innocent victims of disaster as well as relieving human suffering around the world regardless of colour, creed, religion and political persuasion. They provide emergency disaster response in the UK and worldwide in the immediate aftermath of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, extreme weather events and areas of structural collapse.
The team of dedicated, highly trained volunteers are on call 24/7, 365 days a year,
always ready to provide trained Search and Rescue personnel, free of charge to
any country in need of assistance. When deployed, team members search through potentially hundreds of damaged and collapsed buildings, finding survivors and pulling them to safety using a variety of technical skills, teamwork and specialist equipment.
S.A.R.A.I.D is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded solely by public donations, every penny that is raised is spent on search and rescue equipment, training and transporting the team.
The challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in only 24 hours. Please donate what you can so we can help this awesome charity conduct the important work they do.
