MUG Beard Up 2017
Campaign by MUG (RCN CH399)
MUG are asking men in Guernsey to BEARD UP in November. Our annual event is asking men to say goodbye to their razors for thirty days to support ongoing costs for local prostate cancer diagnosis.

Story

The Channel Islands Cancer Report, released in July 2017, highlighted that prostate cancer is the island’s number one cause of cancer death and is the second most common cancer in the island. Around 16 men die from prostate cancer each year.

We're hoping to increase participation year-on-year to help continue to raise
awareness of the signs of cancer. This year we're asking for the support of
businesses as well as individuals to ensure maximum participation.

Cutting-edge scanning for prostate cancer is now available in Guernsey, thanks to money raised by last year’s Beard Up campaign.  The scanning technology means that local patients can be diagnosed much faster on the island, with no need to travel to Southampton, making diagnosis quicker and less stressful for the patient. It is hoped that funds from this year's Beard Up campaign will fund the scanning technology in the longer term. As always, every penny raised by MUG stays on the island and goes directly into the battle against male cancers in Guernsey.
