Story

Thanks for visiting our Fleet half marathon JustGiving page.

A group of 17 EY colleagues are running 13.1 miles of beautiful Hampshire terrain in order to raise money for charity. Our running group is a real mixed bag, with some experienced runners and other complete marathon novices. What we're all hoping for is to get round the challenging course in respectable times (albeit probably not record breaking!) and that the many hours of training we'll be doing in the wet and windy winter conditions will pay off.

This is more than a team building exercise though! To make it all worthwhile, we are raising money for Action Radiotherapy - the UK's only charity dedicated to improving radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients. The charity aims to help develop radiotherapy research and support radiotherapy professionals by providing online tools to enhance collaboration. Compared with some cancer treatments, radiotherapy is effective and inexpensive, second only to surgery in its potential to cure cancer. Even small improvements in how radiotherapy is delivered could lead to large increases in the number of patients cured, and improve palliative treatment for others. With nearly 1 in 2 people contracting cancer in the UK at some point in their lives, we think this is a very worthy cause.

With your support, we would very much like to raise as much money as possible for Action Radiotherapy, meeting our target as a minimum and exceeding it if possible. So colleagues, family and friends, please dig deep and support the team in reaching our target, and give us all a boost while we're running round the 13.1 mile course!
