Story
Christmas can be a stressful time for any parent. Buying the Christmas dinner, the presents for the kids and the alcohol that is put out for Santa the night before.
Can you imagine how stressful this is for a single parent or parents who have hit hards times recently? We can and so does The Salvation Army.
WHAT THE SALVATION ARMY DO
The Salvation Army work alongside communities around the world to support and empower them to defeat poverty and injustice, enabling people to build a better life and future for themselves. Their amazing work is divided into six themes, four are helping to provide clean water, emergency reponses, food services and income advice. The remainding two provide support around anti-trafficking and and modern day slavery.
The Salvation Army help give people the break. When I was younger I was surrounded by poverty, so they were my very own Santa, giving a generous amount of presents to me and my sibilings.
WHAT I'M DOING:
Since Christmas is all about giving, I have decided on the 8th Decemeber 2019 I will be dressing up as Santa and running from soon to be named Your GYM 73 Crosby Street in Darlington to Roseberry Topping, in total this is 24 miles. But I am not stopping there! I will be running all the way to the top which is 1,050 feet tall with one of my clients dressed as an elf. We will be at the top looking at the beautiful views and reflecting on how many children's are going to be changed and their dreams come true.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Any amount of money is welcome. One small donation is going to change a childs life. You are helping so many families who are stuggling in so many ways.
This fundraiser isn't just about the money. Any old or new toys and clothes for any age and gender are welcome.
All you need to do is bring them to: the GYM 73 Crosby Street, Darlington, DL30HW and ask for Wayne.
Thank you for you time and generosity. Merry Christmas.
