Faiths Act is all about people of different faiths coming together to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals, a list of eight of the biggest humanitarian issues facing the world today.
Why malaria?
Malaria is a disease of the blood, transmitted by the bite of a particular mosquito. One million people die of the disease every year, most being children under five. It affects not only the physical wellbeing of a person but has a knock on effect on the health and economic growth of a nation. The thing which makes the disease really stand out is that it is entirely preventable. Tools exist to stop the disease – mosquito nets, medicine and spraying – and already there has been significant success in countries like Ethiopia and Rwanda. We want this model to be replicated in all countries affected by the disease.
With Malaria No More (MNM), £5 will buy and deliver a bed net to cover a family for up to five years.
Faiths Act: Nicky and Nadeem are based in Vauxhall, London and are working on bringing together young people of faith from across the city to fundraise for MNM.If you’d like to find out more about our work, or get involved, either check out are website (www.faithsactfellows.org/nadeem) or email nicola.minford@faithsactfellows.org
