I want to finish the run!
Some stats:
Following the Iraq conflict, conservative estimates state that 800,000 to one million Iraqi children have lost one or both parents. Other sources state the figure is greater than 3 million, equalling 10% of Iraq’s total population. What is for definite is that the figure continues to grow with the on-going sectarian violence and terrorist activity.
The Iraqi government is struggling to protect these children. Only 1% of orphans believed to be in orphanages with most left to wander the streets making them extremely vulnerable and at risk of being exploited for criminal and terrorist activities.
Why IUS AID Orphans Appeal?
The IUS is working with Iraqi Orphan Foundation, a UK registered charity established in 2003, to improve the lives of Iraqi orphans regardless of religious, ethnic and political ties. Since 2003 they have already helped over 6000 orphans through individual sponsorships and provided others with urgent medical care.
