F.A.I.R. - Funding Auto Immune Research - is a new charity founded to fund research into the causes and treatment of Auto-Immune Diseases. Auto-Immune Diseases affect many people worldwide. No-one knows why the body turns on itself but the results can be devastating. From alopecia to arthritis, kidney disease to lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome to Crohn's Disease, the range is extensive and far-reaching in its impact. Funds raised will go to research into both adult and children's medicine at hospitals and research laboratories throughout the UK.
Trustees of F.A.I.R. include a Consultant Paediatric Rheumatologist at Alder Hey Children's Hospital and friends and colleagues of mine: Alex Abberton and Alex Bould. David and Alex's son Finn and Duncan and Alex's daughter Bridget have both been affected by Auto Immune Diseases.
