Family Early Help Helps Out This Christmas · 9 December 2020

This Christmas, give a little to help the Southwark Foodbank support more people affected by a difficult year and ongoing food insecurity and families facing extra financial pressure during the Christmas period.

Story

As a service who can rely on the Southwark food bank for some of our most vulnerable clients, the Family Early Help Service wanted to support the cause and donate to the Southwark Foodbank as a way of saying thank you for all you do.

This is just our way of continuing to support our vulnerable clients and to thank the foodbank for all they do. So let’s use the money we would have used in a secret Santa to bring a little Christmas cheer to others  after the year we’ve had it makes sense

No one should face hunger at Christmas or wonder where their next meal is coming from. 2020 has been a hard year for many, exposing the true number of people in our community who live on insecure, low income and rely on foodbank support to keep themselves and their families fed. Between April 2019 and March 2020, the Southwark Foodbank supported 6,565 people in Southwark. From April - September 2020, the Southwark Foodbank supported 11,064 people, nearly double the number in half the time! The foodbank moved to delivering food parcels and adapted our services quickly to meet growing need during COVID-19 and still need support to see people facing crisis through the winter
