Farnham Maltings has been the setting for most of the FAOS Musical Theatre Group productions for over 40 years, which gives the venue a very special place close to the heart of FAOS. However, The Maltings is much more than that. It is a vital community hub supporting the town of Farnham, as its role throughout the pandemic hosting local  services, such as the  Farnham and Villages Coronavirus Helpline and NHS Blood Donor Sessions has highlighted. 

Here in the UK we have a long, proud history of support for the arts and creative industries - performance in all its forms, and all types of craft and creative productivity.  With its workshops, studios, theatre, performance spaces and meeting rooms, The Maltings provides a venue in the heart of Farnham which has supported huge numbers of creators and performers, helping them to establish their businesses, create employment in the town, and build a phenomenal reputation for world class creative achievement.  These creative industries in turn make a significant contribution to the local and national economy, provide training and entertainment and enhance community spirit in the town. 

Only a few short weeks ago Farnham was proud to be granted "World Craft City" status - the only town in England to be awarded this accolade.  The Maltings is recognised as a very important part of the network that has supported this status and must now help to maintain it.

The economic impact of Covid19 is being felt everywhere, but the Creative Arts and in particular Performance Arts are particularly hard hit, which inevitably has disrupted The Maltings usual income streams.  We still don't know when we will be able to stage our next live show live show. It is vitally important that we all support The Maltings now, to ensure that it remains a  bustling  hub of our community as we move forward out of Lockdown.  If you have enjoyed this latest FAOS song, please give whatever you can to support The Maltings in their work. 

Finally - a reminder....  The Maltings is re-opening its facilities as fast as it safely can.  Please show your support in the weeks and months to come by attending its events - the monthly markets have already re-started in the outdoors, and it is hoped the café will reopen in September.  Volunteers are also always welcomed, either at The Maltings or with many other organisations throughout the town.  Please come along!
