The Color Run Brighton 2016 · 17 September 2016 ·

Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of disease. Our research includes cancer, Parkinson's and other diseases and could save millions of lives by improving diagnostics. We already help people manage complex, life-threatening medical conditions by training Medical Alert Dogs.

Story

Farthings have put together a team of vets and nurses to take part in 5k colour run in Brighton to raise money for the medical detection dogs.

The MDD train dogs to detect odour of human disease in samples such as urine, breath and swabs and to detect any minute changes in an individuals odour triggered by their disease. the dogs are trained to alert the owner of the changes they have detected.

It is at the forefront of the research into the fight against cancers and other life threatening diseases such as Type 1 diabetes, Addisons, Severe nut allergies and POT's. They will also consider other life threatening conditions.

The charity is wholly reliant on donations and receives no donations from the government.
