Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Islamic month of fasting is upon us once more. With the sighting of the new moon, the 30 days of no eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset will kick off around the 17th May.
Fasting requires a lot of self discipline, having the right intentions really help you get through the day. Perseverance really is key. The more you reflect, the more you appreciate the value of the little daily things.
This year I've chosen to fundraise for a charity called Action for Kids (AFK). I was introduced to their work by a friend who wanted to raise awareness for disabled young adults who require more help for independent living. The work carried out by AFK supports young people with learning disabilities from the age of 14 to help with their transition to adulthood and to help them prepare for work. They also provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young adults from 0 to 26 years of age.
So how can you help...
Pick one of the following 3 options to help me reach my fundraising target.
- Fast with me: I fast for religion, but there are many great health reasons to fast. So why not try it for charity. £21* will be donated by sponsors for each person that completes this. Pick a day. Eat a good balanced meal the evening before the fast. (Avoid any krispy kreme donuts) Make the intention the night before and list 3 things you want to achieve from the fast, eat a nutritious breakfast before sunrise and then stick it out until sunset. Let me know if you want to try this!
- What's your daily food spend? Donate the equivalent of what you would spend on food in one day and help me reach my target within 30 days.
- Share my just giving page and raise awareness for this cause.
