Father's Day walk in Memory of Granville Ormshaw · 14 June 2025 ·
The walk is in loving memory of Granville Ormshaw, my dad and Debbie’s Uncle. Also in memory Uncle Robert who didn’t have the luxury of time and modern medicine, and for Uncle Kev (Debbie’s dad) who has also received treatment.
Myself, Debbie Ormshaw and Kirsty Crump plan to walk from my dad’s home address (Balby) to Rockware Glass on Barnby Dun Road (now Ardagh Glass). Google says it should take nearly 2 hours but may take us longer. If we get over the target we will attempt to walk back!
My dad loved walking and often would do more than me! The route was chosen from my mum remembering my dad walking to work in the snow even though there was no lorry’s!
Anybody is welcome to join the walk, even if it’s for only part and to tell us some great stories about Granville.
We thank you in advance for your donations, any amount no matter how big or small will go towards Prostrate Cancer UK and their aim to beat prostrate cancer. I always like to think that we all got more time with Granville because of the new technology and new medicine. But mainly because he’s a tough bugger. But you have to think he was diagnosed when I was a stroppy teenager and passed away in February 2024! It would be wonderful if we could give another family that extra time with their dad, husband, friend and or grandad.
