Story
For unpaid carers there are no days off, no sick leave, and Carers Allowance is just £69.70 per week. Many unpaid carers wash and dress their loved one, cook for them and feed them, help them go to the toilet and clean up after them. It can be relentless. But working across various counties, Caring Together is supporting local carers. The charity provides Hubs - regular local get-togethers where carers can have a break, get to know others, and receive training and advice. They provide a Helpline - expert advice at the end of the phone from someone who really understands and is listening. They provide Counselling - mental health and emotional support for carers who feel overwhelmed and stressed out. They provide breaks, enabling an unpaid carer to have some time to themselves to go swimming or go on a shopping trip, by looking after their loved one ourselves. And much more!
