We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Welcome to my year-long challenge to raise money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Why now?
Over the last five years, we have witnessed my father-in-law, Dave, deteriorate as a result of acute Alzheimer’s dementia. Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK. Worldwide there are more than 50 million people with it, and this number is expected to triple by 2050.
I want to contribute to the solutions that will bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025 by raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK.

Where did #50in50by50 come from?
From Monday 17th August 2020 through to Sunday 1st August 2021, I am committing to completing 50kms each week for 50 weeks until I reach the ripe old age of 50 - so #50in50by50!!
This can be done by walking, running, cycling , swimming, rowing... and I have tracker to clock each and every step.

Each week I will start from zero, there is no adding weeks together allowed here, which means I am going from zero to a minimum of 2,500kms over the 50 weeks.

And to increase my personal accountability, for every £10 donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK, I will donate £1 to the Papworth Trust for my own personal reasons.

Not surprisingly, my target is a very high £5050.50! I appreciate that people’s pockets are stretched at the moment, but I do hope you will join me on supporting two great causes, and helping me to reach #50in50by50.

With love and gratitude, Faye
