Story
As most of you will know my son Freddie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 3.5years ago, at the age of 6 years old.
This was the hardest time in my life and one that I will never forget, a time where you feel your whole world has just fallen apart. We’ve been on such a journey since he was diagnosed, and have finally found our new normal.
It’s not been easy, actually really difficult, but we have the most amazing support team around us to help navigate this complicated condition.
He’s doing really well (better than me at times 🤦🏼♀️) the technology he has now to help him manage his diabetes is absolutely amazing! He has a pump fitted which delivers insulin, and a continuous glucose monitor so we have his blood readings every 5 mins! This kid is so resilient and can teach me a thing or two!
Now, none of this is possible without the amazing work these charities do with fundraising, to be able to do more research and further enhance technology!
Anyone who knows me knows I do ZERO exercise! Maybe 2000 steps a day at the most 🤦🏼♀️
My sister and I have just signed up to do 400,000 steps between 6th October - 14th November, 10,000 steps a day!
It ends on world diabetes day! 💙
If you would like to sponsor us, we would really appreciate it. Any donation no matter how big or small will make such a huge difference, in supporting this charity and helping children/adults like Freddie.
We always stand by this rule in our house
“Diabetes will always be in his life, but he will never let it rule his life”
400,000 people are currently living with type 1 diabetes in the UK, I want to change that.
I’m taking part in The 400,000 Step Challenge for breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to make a difference to the lives of people affected by type 1!
Every £11 could help a recently diagnosed child no longer feel alone with their type 1 diabetes. They now have a fluffy best friend called Rufus who also has type 1 diabetes, and special felt patches on his test and injection sites to help children practice on.
Every £25 could pay for an hour of research nurse support for someone involved in a clinical trial, which could ultimately lead to the next big breakthrough. Without this support there would be no trial.
Every £115 could pay for one person to be screened for type 1 diabetes, to help prevent undiagnosed complications and save lives.
Thank you for your support, whatever you donate is really appreciated. Together, we can help to cure type 1 diabetes!
