Faye's Shrewsbury Half Marathon page

Hi everyone,
My story starts on october 5th when my dad was suddenly diagnosed with a rare cancer, Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is an industrial disease and is caused from inhalling asbestos and takes anything from 15 to 40 years to develop in the body. My dad did not have any side effects that are typical of a cancer, had never smoked and was working full time until 2 weeks before his diagnosis.
He had major surgery soon after diagnosis to remove 3 tumours and the lining of his left lung. The operation combined with chemo was hoping to give him 3 or 4 years of life. Unfortunately he never fully recovered from the surgery and he became extremly poorly in a short space of time.
I was lucky enough to spend christmas day and new years eve with him one last time, before he died on January 5th 2014 (3 months after diagnosis) with myself, mum and 2 sisters by his side.
It's a memory I will never forget but one I would love to. Mesothelioma cancer is a rare and dangerous cancer and it takes lives quickly and suddenly. Cancer research UK don't fund research for this cancer and therefore the more money we can raise for the charity that does, the better!
Please can you give as little or as much as you can to help the amazing nurses that care for these patients whilst research continues until there is a cure!
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to visit this page and read my story.
