As I filled out my application to become a part of the 2021 Texas 4000 team, I felt extremely humbled and fortunate that cancer had not directly impacted my family. However, I have seen first-hand the unwanted hardships that cancer brings to families all over the world. Hearing their stories is what motivates me to ride not only for them but for all of those that do not have the ability to ride.

First and foremost, I ride for HOPE. Hope that those battling cancer right now have friends and family supporting them and eventually conquer their fight. With such a debilitating disease, it is easy to lose hope. I ride to bring hope back to those who have lost it, to show them that there is a community supporting and fighting alongside them.

I also ride for KNOWLEDGE and CHARITY. My and Texas 4000’s mission includes sharing cancer knowledge throughout all of our involvements in order to help make people aware of how they can follow preventative measures and get routine check-ups to stay ahead of cancer. With plenty of creative and driven cancer researchers out there, one of the biggest obstacles in finding a cure is securing money for research. I ride so that I can help in this endeavor and hopefully, within my lifetime, a cancer diagnosis does not lead to uncertainty but rather a proven cure so that fewer and fewer people must go through this life-draining experience.

Last but not least, I want to ride for those who you hold dear in your heart. If you or anyone you know had or is currently fighting cancer, I encourage you to reach out and tell me your story. Every story matters and I would be more than happy to dedicate part of my ride to you and your friends/family.
