Story
On 25th September 2021, staff at Feel Good Contacts will participate in a 5K and 10K run, organised by RunThrough UK, taking place at Lee Valley Velo Park to fundraise for Macular Society.
Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, affecting more than 600,000 people. The degenerative condition mostly affects those over the age of 50. With an ageing population, more and more people are affected by macular disease.
It is, therefore, more important than ever that we raise as much money as possible to help fund research into treatments and to help find a cure.
Community and Events Fundraising Manager, Susie McCallum says;
“The last 18 months have been difficult for almost everyone. However, we know that people who were already so isolated by their vision loss have been even more isolated because of restrictions caused by the pandemic. We have been unable to provide face-to-face services, but this has meant that our telephone and online support has been even more in demand. We have also maintained our ambition to fund the research that will lead to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this devastating condition. For all those reasons, your fundraising is even more appreciated right now. Thank you so much for everything you are doing. We cannot beat macular disease without people like you, and with you, we won’t fail.”
