Felecia's Chorlton Triathlon page

Chorlton Triathlon · 10 June 2018
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and to
visit my page.
In a few weeks I shall be completing my first triathlon – 750m open swim, 15km bike and 5km run.
For many years I have wanted to complete a triathlon and have decided it’s now or never!
I have decided to raise money for Sickle Cell Care Manchester because there is a lack of awareness of Sickle Cell disease, in addition to the devastating effects this has on people with the condition, their families & friends. Particularly in Manchester, there is not enough funding for the range of care, support, and advocacy that is needed.
What is Sickle Cell?
Sickle cell disease most commonly affects minority ethnic
people. In the UK, it is particularly common in people with an
African or Caribbean family background. But, it also largely affects Middle
Eastern, East Mediterranean and Asian people all around the world.
Among several others, some of the symptoms of SCD include:
• Fatigue and Anemia.
• Pain Crises.
• Dactylitis (swelling and inflammation
of the hands and/or feet) and Arthritis.
Sickle cell disease is a serious and lifelong condition.
By taking part in this triathlon I hope to raise money to enable Sickle Cell Care Manchester to continue their great work in supporting Sickle Cell sufferers and their carers.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and
for any donation that you have been willing to give.
Also some support on the day would be greatly
appreciated…I will be the one being carried over the finish line no doubt.
Many Thanks
Felecia
