Story
Next year I turn 60! I want to challenge myself to the max, having lived in Cumbria as a child, the Lake District holds special memories. 196 miles (if I don't get lost) through the Lake District, Pennines & North Yorkshire moors. Huge climbs and mountains.
I have had the good fortune to have worked for Guide dogs for over 10 years and volunteered for over 17 years. I have met people with sight loss who have overcome challenges far greater. Their stories have had a profound effect on me. Now is the time for me to give back. I know times are hard but anything you are able to donate will be appreciated so much. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and lead lonely, isolated lives. Guide Dogs works for a world where people with sight loss are never left out of life, for a world where being blind or partially sighted is not what defines you. A world with enough support to make the challenges of sight loss no barrier to fulfilling hopes and dreams.
