Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Cancer has touched more of our lives than we could have ever thought. An innocent brunch back in January turned into Charlotte and I deciding to take on a challenge, and Tim Cherry's love of walking made the Thames Path Challenge an obvious choice. Three loyal friends were crazy enough to join us, and so "Cherries on Top" were formed. So in September the five of us will be plodding along 100km of the Thames from London to Henley-on-Thames to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We wanted to set ourselves a challenge to raise money for a cancer charity after a couple of close family cancer diagnoses which have inspired us to make a difference, and we chose Macmillan for the worthy cause. Macmillan provide invaluable support to those going through the toughest times of their lives and help not just the patient, but the carers and family too. They receive 98% of their income from voluntary sources which is why it's so important to raise money to allow them to continue the fantastic work that they do.
So back to the challenge...we will attempt to walk basically 2.5 marathons in one go. Looking back to our school days, this is us fitting in the whole of our Gold D of E expedition into 24hours (luckily minus the tents!). There will no doubt be blisters and achey legs along the way, but the thought of raising money for this fantastic charity is incentive enough (and maybe the thought of five big gins waiting for us at the finish may just help a little too!) Any money that you can spare will be hugely appreciated - wish us luck!
