Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 1999 my mum passed away after a long battle with cancer. Despite 7 years worth of operations and hospital visits, my parents created a home full of happiness, warmth, care, opportunities and support in all aspects of life. I carry Heli in my heart, think of her every day and remember her as loving, caring, funny, energetic, creative, and strong. And, most importantly, she had a very big heart for children.
I am unbelievably grateful to have had such a caring and wonderful mother – unfortunately not everyone is this lucky. London is one of the most developed and richest cities in the world and yet there are 700,000 children living in poverty and suffering from physical and emotional hardship.
The Childhood Trust works in communities across London and supports grassroots organisations providing targeted interventions and solutions that are tackling the key problems affecting children in their area. These include services such as; mentoring, hot meals, social work referrals and liaison, educational support, counselling, sports activities, arts and cultural activities and many other forms of support.
One of Heli’s great passions was the outdoors. It seems fitting that in September I will be attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Heli and to raise money for the Childhood Trust. Along with 50 other MOOsters I will attempt to cover the 24 mile hike in less than 12 hours, across an elevation of 5,200 feet.
Please help me hit my £500 target and help young London children to have a better start in life.
