Health Poverty Action acts in solidarity with health workers, activists and communities worldwide to improve health and challenge causes of poverty. We approach health as an issue of social justice, prioritising those missed out by others and address the full range of factors which impact on health.

Support Harsha & Catherine and the Health Poverty Action Life-Saving Campaign in Sierra Leone

As Faiths Act Fellows we are working on local and global levels to mobilize communities and people of faith to be a force for good in the fight to eradicate deaths caused by inadequate access to maternal health care.

On the local level: We are working to bring together people from different faiths in action that will raise awareness and funds to support Health Poverty Action maternal health initiatives and increase interfaith understanding and connection in London.

Health Poverty Action (HPA) works to strengthen poor and marginalised people in their struggle for health. HPA believe that every woman has the right to give birth safely and we are delighted to be able to assist their maternal and child health projects in poor communties in Sierra Leone.

Every penny raised goes directly towards providing communitties with the training and resources they need to ensure that women are afforded their right to give birth safely.

Thank you for joining us in supporting their critical work!

On the global level: We are supporting our colleagues in Sierra Leone as they train pastors and imams to be health ambassadors to their congregants. In a country in which the general population outnumbers medical care professionals 6,000,000 to 102, religious leaders have taken on the additional task of educating their congregations about the deadly threat of malaria. We are finding that religious leaders have a greater ability than government officials when it comes to effectively educating their communities about malaria. Lives are being saved.
