Assalamualaikum - Peace and Blessings be upon you all.

Well my story is quite simple. Having volunteered and been part of one of the biggest Islamic Charities in the world today (Islamic Relief) for a number of years, I thought I should take it a step further and really test myself. I've decided to embark on this epic journey to conquer Everest and in return help raise thousands of pounds to help build a better life for the poor and needy in Africa. The cause being "Water - The Source Of Life".

Water is the basic liquid of life. However, over one billion people worldwide have no access to safe drinking water,
and almost half the world's population lack adequate sanitation.

I still remember way back in April 2006 and being at the Evening Of Inspiration at the Royal Albert Hall. Half way through the evening, there was a very powerful message by the founder of Islamic Relief and my teacher Dr Hani El Banna, that I still remember till this day. He talked about how he had a vision for Africa - to help provide the basic needs so that they can access clean water. Inshallah by completeting this journey I hope I  will also be part of that vision

Around 80% of all sickness and disease in the world is caused by inadequate water or sanitation, according to the World Health Organisation. Water-related diseases account for 2.2 million deaths each year, mostly among children under the age of five
