Big Green Hike 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·

Wales is ranked 224th out of 240 countries for biodiversity intactness - but rewilding offers hope. We will purchase or lease land to restore nature, reconnect people with nature and wild projects in Wales and promote rewilding. We will restore ecosystems and increase biodiversity at our project.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Will be hiking 10 miles through Snowdonia to raise money for Tir Natur; a rewilding charity looking to address the nature and climate emergencies in Wales.

The state of nature in Wales is truly devastating. We are ranked 224th out of 240 countries for nature (RSPB), with 666 species at risk of extinction. We must stop pointing the finger at other countries and look at our own impact when it comes to habitat loss. Our woodlands and wetlands have disappeared, and even farm habitats like hedgerows and meadows have all but been lost. Rewilding offers hope; hope of recovery, hope of life.

Rewilding looks to recover entire ecosystems. Tir Natur is looking to purchase land to showcase rewilding in Wales, and especially highlight the key role that large native grazers play in recovering ecosystems. They also shine a light on the species that have already been lost, but could be reintroduced, such as beavers, cranes, wildcats and more!

Please donate any amount you can, to help us reach our target. We know that times are tough, but nature needs us now more than ever.
