Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our very good friend Neil is not yet 40. He has a beautiful wife and a great son who will be 2 in September.
Last October, Neil was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. By early December he was under the surgeons knife for over 8 hours while they tore into his insides. They removed part of his pancreas part of his liver and numerous veins. While they were digging around in there, they also dedcided to re-pipe a major part of his stomach & digestive system. Neil came through the operation successfully and was discharged from hospital a few weeks later.
He has since then been bombarded with poisons & chemicals to try & get rid of this awful disease. I have yet to meet a braver man. He has born this illness with dignity, a sense of humour (sometimes) & an optimism that I can only marvel at. He has lost 5 stones in weight & 10 inches off his waist, yet still he fights on, determined to do all he can to recover & see his young son grow up.
For mine & Richard's small part, we have decided to try & raise some funds towards the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund by being 'scalped' on Friday 16th August at Ferndown Golf Club. Having grown my hair since Neil's announcement of his illness, it is now at the 'aged rock star' length. I know I will look a bit daft when it comes off completely - & I mean completely!! But it's such a small price to pay for such a worthy cause & to show some support for an extremely brave individual.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Very sadly Neil passed away peacefully at 9:15 on the morning of Friday 2nd August 2013. Our thoughts are with his wife Victoria, son Oscar & both families.
Thank you everyone
Kevin & Richard
