Malvern St James is a fabulous independent girls’ school in Malvern, Worcestershire with a passion for promoting mental health and wellbeing both at school and beyond. Our Director of Pastoral Care, Zinnia Wilkinson and our Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead, Keri Haw are both passionate and a little bit geeky about wellbeing. Keen to
share our practice and reach out to others who are like-minded but not wanting to host another stuffy conference we put our thinking caps on and set about imagining up a fresh way to connect one another through our shared interest in wellbeing. In July last year, we made our way to London to Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival for a day of immersive wellbeing. Yes, this is how we roll in the summer holidays! To say it felt like home was an understatement. Talks from incredible speakers, interactive and reflective activities, creative workshops and a vibe which was so in tune with our own. We knew in an instant this was the sort of event we wanted to replicate. We opted for adults as our chosen audience. Strange for a school perhaps, but we are acutely aware that
the wellbeing of our young people is best served when the adults around them are both well in themselves and modelling healthy behaviour.

It would have been beautiful. The location was confirmed,
potential speakers lined up and food stalls booked, but then…. Coronavirus.
Never deterred when it comes to wellbeing, we set about taking the event online. 

This is a free event during which we will invite our audience to make a voluntary donation to Mind.
