Nairnshire Challenge · 30 May 2010

Rotary members work together to create lasting change across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves. We work to prevent and resolve conflict, provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene, fight disease, provide better education and grow local economies. And we support our home communities.

Story

The Nairnsire Challenge is a duathlon on foot and bike.  A 13 mile run over the Cawdor Estate land is followed by an 18 mile cycle though Nairnshire.

All the monies raised by the Nairnshire Challenge go into the Rotary Club of Nairn’s Charitable Fund which is a registered Scottish Charity Number SCO 27004.

The trustees of the Fund are the office holders for the time being of the Rotary Club of Nairn.  The trustees have established a policy that the charitable funds are to be disbursed primarily to charities, projects & good causes based in Nairnshire, to national charities for their use in Nairnshire, and that a proportion of the funds (about 10%) are to be distributed to national and international charities supported by Rotary International.  The trustees have recently decided to direct significant funds towards supporting certain charities on a regular basis, and the first charity to benefit from such a commitment is the Nairn branch of the Alzheimer’s Society for the sum of £10,000 over a three year period.
