Story
I’ve been living with Parkinson’s for 12 years, diagnosed aged 44. I remember the exact date because it was the day before my birthday, and my 5 year old daughter was excited about the birthday surprise she was planning!
I am so grateful to Parkinson’s Uk for all the support they provide and the massive contribution to research.. I got to know some of the Scottish team, in particular, Jan Mattison over recent years. What a fantastic group of people they are, both staff and the many volunteers who give their time so selflessly 🥰🤩
I am currently in the shielding group from Covid-19 because alongside the Parkinson's I’m also receiving immunotherapy treatment for melanoma. And I want to give a mention and huge thanks to the team at MASScot, the Melanoma charity, who have provided the most wonderful support through my Melanoma challenges, and there’s been a few! Possibly another challenge to be done next year! If I succeed in this one for Parkinson’s UK!👍🚲❤️
That’s a long explanation as to why this is ‘virtual’! This is the big first day of the Fi Middleton virtual cycling challenge (challenging myself of course!). Exercise bike primed and ready! The stack of clothes it supported neatly tidied away!👍😂
(My Challenge is to do a virtual cycle on my exercise bike 🚲 to Balloch Castle and hopefully back, 37 miles😬, in 2 weeks! Easy for some but certainly a Challenge for me!)
4/7/20 - Above was my original challenge but as most of you will know, I’ve totally smashed this! I’ve gone round the Kintyre Peninsula and currently on route to Islay! I’ll soon be hitting over 200 miles!🚲🥳✅ And as long as the amazing encouragement continues, I’ll keep going!🥰😍
I’m also hoping to add in a few silly challenges and I will take suggestions, for a donation of course! Let me know either directly, here or via Facebook👍
Your support and donations for Parkinson’s UK would be much appreciated!🥰 I will give regular updates on my virtual trip! Thanks for everyone’s support and please share!👍 Fiona (Fi) xxx
