In memory of Peter Hayes
Story
I want to give a big thank you to everyone who has helped us to complete the Pete Hayes 10k or the Handsworth Park 10k Fun Run. From the volunteers, runners, supporters, the cake stall holders, run leaders, musicians, the Lord Mayors and everyone who has been there in some shape or form to make it happen over the years. Especially to Donna, from the British Heart Foundation, and the charity itself; without their support we would not have been able to put the event on over the course of years.
You came from near and far to run, but we now have decided to end the 10k, and our Sunday morning training sessions, known as Boathouse Runners, held in Handsworth Park.
As a way of saying goodbye, we have run Pete’s name in a heart in the park. So, if you want to join in the farewell you can run or walk a heart for us and donate one last time to the British Heart Foundation.
In 2022, it will be 10 years since Pete died. The pain is still the same and we still miss him loads but with all your support it helps.
