Founded in 2003, Temwa is a Bristol based charity whose mission is to develop self-sufficient communities in hard-to-reach areas of northern Malawi – itself the third poorest country in the world. We serve the communities of Nkhata Bay North, a very remote area and home to around 55,000 people. Our aim is to provide an infrastructure to support families in this region facing financial and humanitarian hardship. We accomplish this by implementing programmes in health, education, agriculture and forestry. All of our projects are community-driven meaning that local communities are actively involved in the design and implementation of the projects. We deliver our programmes by our in-country Temwa team, all of them nationals with many from the local area, as such they have a deep local and operational knowledge of the needs of Nkhata Bay North.

Story

Jack and Finn will be cycling 225 miles in three days(THREE!!??), all the way from Snowdon, down through Wales, over mountains and into Bristol this September 15th - 18th - all to raise money for the fantastic Malawi-based charity, Temwa!

We are very proud to support this community-led charity that trains villagers to grow a variety of vegetables and fruit to improve their nutritional intake; plant trees to combat the devastating effects of deforestation and climate change; run HIV testing clinics and work to combat the associated stigma; and fund students through their secondary school education.

This will be a great challenge for us, as, as Finn’s knees creak past 30 years old and Jack approaches 35.

All proceeds will be going towards Terry's Legacy Fund at Temwa. Any contribution, large or small, will make a difference. For example, just £5 will pay for a water filter that will provide a family with clean water for 3 years. Just to put that into perspective, that's less than a pint in London!

We are incredibly grateful for your support on this challenging adventure, which of course is all feeding in to a much bigger cause. Many thanks x
