Maggie's Merseyside needs your support now more than ever. We are here supporting people with cancer and their families who are worried and anxious that their treatment plan might be changed and wondering what coronavirus means for them.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

For my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, I have chosen to fundraise for various cancer charities. I am so proud that the Churton Circuits members have agreed to support my fundraising by using my Just Giving page in their wonderful challenge.

The members of Churton Circuits are cycling from St Bees to Newcastle following the Hadrian’s Wall route. They are travelling from the west to the east coast over two and a half days, a total of 140 miles, which is not an easy flat route. The group are not a cycling group, just a group of men aiming to keep fit and well. I am not undertaking the event myself due to school commitments, but I am really overwhelmed that they wish to support my DoE Gold fundraising by nominating my Just Giving page as their charity.

This month I am raising money for Maggie's Merseyside a cancer charity that has really supported us all through this tough time. These events are for Maggies Wirral (previously known as Merseyside)which is attached to the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. They have been fantastic in supporting my mum and I want to give something back to them.

Anyone with cancer can get free one-to-one help and information from our professional team or join groups and activities that are right for them. It is a calming space where patients and families can pop in for a cup of tea, meet people who understand what they are going through or just take a moment to gather their thoughts.

"Maggie's Wirral (Merseyside) needs your help now more than ever. We are here giving the best possible support to people with cancer and their families at this incredibly difficult time. We have one to one phone, skype, facetime, email support and now some face to face activities. Our online and face to face community, run by psychologists, cancer support specialists and benefits advisors, is there to answer questions directly and post daily blogs on how to cope with self-isolation or treatment changes. You can join our online kitchen table and chat with others in the same position. We're working closely with our NHS colleagues to provide psychological and emotional support, cancer advice, bereavement support and benefits advice including benefit entitlement checks and form filling. Along with providing support to carers who are now feeling more helpless due to uncertainty with the current circumstance. Everything we do depends on your kindness. We will always be there for people with cancer but we need you alongside us."
