Story

Our usual Thursday evening is a run with a drink in the local bar afterwards! So we thought why not do this run together.  We were inspired by the women who are doing the run for body awareness in their.....underwear!!  So we find ourselves running a 10k in our underwear on 27th May.

We want women to feel proud of their bodies regardless of their shape and size,  to love their bodies and appreciate what our bodies can do. We are all BEAUTIFUL women!

Maggie's Story....I was raised in care and fostered by Mrs Dorothy King from the age of 7 to 14.  Sadly she passed away from cancer when I was 14 and I helped nurse her during this time. She was a great influence in my life. She nurtured me, loved me and brought me up to be a decent human being. All that I am today is due to her and I just want to give something back, that is why I am running this race!

Fiona's Story...A few months back my sister was diagnosed with a lump on her Colon. Thankfully it was benign but we had weeks waiting before we knew the results. The effect it had on the family was very scary not knowing what the outcome was going to be.  It did not just affect my sister who was going through this traumatic time of feeling sick and unwell but for all us as a family.

Also my best friends mum sadly passed away September 2018 of cancer. The suffering and torment that cancer causes in a family is not only detrimental it shatters everyone's world.  Watching my friend nurse her mum and seeing her mother deteriorate over a period of short months was heart breaking!

A word from our chosen charity...We are the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. We are here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
