Trek Iceland 2017 · 24 June 2017

Trekking through Iceland to help give every autistic person the chance of a long, healthy and happy life, and to ensure children no longer suffer institutional care.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  In June, I am taking on the challenge of trekking for three days through the stunning Southern Highlands of Iceland taking on routes around Landmannalaugar, the volcanic lake Alftavatn and Emstrur.  This dramatic landscape includes crossing lava and snow fields, river gorges and even through glacial streams, with only 3 hours of night-time from midnight until 3am.

This is the first time that I have ever signed up for anything quite as demanding.  Those who know me well will also recognise the extra challenge that I'm not a natural camper and like my creature comforts.

I value all support, however big or small, towards Autistica and Hope and Homes for Children.  Autistica funds world-class research into causes, diagnosis and treatment so every child with autism has the chance to reach their full potential, whilst Hope and Homes for Children work to ensure that all children have the chance to grow up in the love of a family rather than damaging institutional care around the world.

My employer, Deutsche Bank, will match the first £1000 that I raise from friends and family.  All of my travel and expenses for the trip are covered personally by me.
