Loch Ness Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Fiona has no problem walking for 24 hours and doing other challenges but the thought of running a marathon has always filled her with dread. Not a natural runner she started getting into it during lockdown and set herself the challenge of her first marathon before her 40th birthday at the end of October 2021. Steve on the other hand has done two marathons before so he’s an old hand, though the thought of being beaten by his wife on race day has made him up his game in terms of the training!
It’s been a while since either of us has done a fundraiser so we’ve chosen to raise money to support SPACE & the Broomhouse Centre as Fiona has a personal connection to the charity and used to volunteer with them as a youth befriender. The charity is an incredible community organisation that supports local people and families in one of Edinburgh’s more deprived areas. They offer a fantastic range of services for the community ranging from youth befriending for 5 -16 year olds affected by parental drug or alcohol misuse to schemes aiming at tackling isolation and loneliness among over-60s to mental health services for young people. For more info about SPACE & the Broomhouse Centre see their official spiel below.
A massive thank you for any support you can give us. Knowing we’re raising money for such a good cause will hopefully prevent us from packing it all in when we get to the 2 ½ mile long hill that starts at mile 17.5 on the Loch Ness Marathon!
