Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My dear friend Linda, lost her loving Mum earlier this year to the terrible illness, motor neurone disease.
Celia Blakey was an active woman full of life, humour and loving, who cherished her family dearly and played an active and loving part in all their daily lives.
Memories are the most beautiful of things to have and the Blakey family have thousands.
Throughout her illness which she faced with much dignity, Celia and her family received much support and care from the Marie Curie nurses, the love & help they gave ensured Celia could remain in her own home surrounded by her loving family at a time when every second together was precious.
Linda & her family are a close, loving family and that is thanks to the love & support they received from 'their Mum' Celia, a legacy that will, along with their memories live forever.
Myself, along with Linda and 4 other friends will walk 10 at Harewood House, with smiles on our faces, love in our hearts and a laugh along the way, just as Celia I'm sure, would have wanted & say a small but very grateful. " Thank You to Marie Curie."
Linda says “Mum was an active 76 year old and after a few unexplained symptoms that seemed quite mild at the time, she was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in September 2013. As you can imagine all our worlds fell apart. The Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford was in the process of setting up an MND clinic and it was recommended that mum attend day therapy, after much persuasion she agreed to go along. Unfortunately her disease progressed very quickly and she became housebound but she was not forgotten. Marie Curie nurses visited regularly and made sure that she received help and equipment to make all our lives as easy as it possibly could be. Mum sadly passed away in March, 7 months after her diagnosis. This is a short version of a wonderful lady's life and doing the walk is our way of thanking Marie Curie for helping us through a time of great difficulty, bewilderment and sadness.
