Walk For Endo #walkforendo · 1 August 2020

Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Story

In 2016 I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I've had endo since I was in my teens, but it took about 13 years to be diagnosed. For most women, it takes 7.5 years. This is still over 7 years too long. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women but most women walk through life waiting too long for a diagnosis, and when they do receive one, too long for treatment.

To raise awareness and funds for endometriosis I'll be taking part in the #walkforendo challenge. During the month of August I'll be walking 7.5km a week...hopefully! For a lot of you, this will seem like an easy challenge. Some of you will know last year I had my 3rd operation to treat endometriosis and recovery has been difficult, meaning a simple task such as walking can leave me unable to leave bed for up to two days after. So this is huge for me. I'm also breaking with my tradition of being private about my endo and being public. Why? Because if someone out there thinks that being doubled over in pain, taking days off work and even painful sex (tmi... not even close!) is normal and they read my posts and get help then it's worth it.

I'll be posting about updates here so follow my journey, and thanks for the donation!
