Story
Fiona is an active fundraiser for IraqChild. Last year, at the age of 73 she underwent an impressive 120 miles cycle ride to raise charity for the IraqChild initiative, and this year she’s back with 31 mile sponsored walk!
Having accomplished an inspiring career as a social worker in courts hearing civil proceedings, Fiona is now retired, but her fundraising efforts have certainly not ceased. Fiona is passionate about equality and the fight to put an end to poverty. Above all, she believes in child protection and that every child has the right to a good childhood. It is Fiona’s inspiring commitment to charitable giving and fundraising as well as her dedication to improving the lives of Iraqi children affected by conflict that has compelled many to donate in the past to the IraqChild initiative.
This August, Fiona plans to walk an overall distance of 31 miles, which she would cover over a period of four days. We greatly hope that as Fiona takes on an immense challenge for the IraqChild appeal, that she will have your much valued support and sponsorship.
Iraqi Association’s IraqChild project is a small non-sectarian grass root initiative which seeks to provide education and protection for Iraqi children in the most deprived areas of Baghdad, whose lives have been shattered physically and psychologically by the decades of conflicts.
The money raised will go towards funding an education center that provides children with food, clothes, education, school stationary, books, healthcare, and a network of local families to provide support. The center also provides outreach work, to help breakdown traditional or cultural stereotypes or perceptions which act as restrictions to child development and deter access to child rights.
Please give whatever you can to support Fiona and IraqChild, as even the smallest donation can make a large difference to a child’s life.
