Story
Words don't do any justice to the hole that has been left in our lives by the passing of our incredible father David Bennett. Our Dad was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) a few days into the first lockdown in 2020. His treatment was carried out throughout lockdown but it was an extremely tough time. He met his grandson in August and we all had Christmas together cherishing every moment. In February 2021, he went into hospital for more intensive chemotherapy. His body didn't respond the way we were all desperately hoping it would and his health started to decline more rapidly. In May the consultant informed us that Dad had about 2 weeks left. He was tired all the time but seemed ok so this news came as a very big shock. The MDS developed into Leukaemia and on the 30th of May surrounded by those he loved the most he passed away peacefully.
Everyone whos lives he touched was better for it, and his legacy of living every day to the fullest, and taking every opportunity to have a good time will live on in those of us he left behind.
Fiona works for the NHS, within the cancer screen service, and Karen is a Team GB athlete in rowing. Together we will take on this challenge to raise as much awareness and money as we can to help beat blood cancer.
The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
Thank You!
