Fionnuala's Mizen to Malin page

Mizen to Malin · 17 March 2021
I am going to walk the length of the Emerald Isle virtually beginning from Mizen Head to Malin Head. This will be 360 miles and the challenge is to do it over 6 months but I am aiming to complete in 2 months. This is in aid of raising money for the Nephrotic Syndrome Trust (NeST) and any donations would be amazing for this incredible charity.
Nephrotic syndrome is a condition that causes the kidneys to leak large amounts of protein into the urine. This can lead to a range of problems like swelling of body tissues, blood clots and a greater chance of catching infections. Nephrotic Syndrome can affect people of any age, but it's usually first diagnosed in children aged between 2 and 5 years old, and around 1 in every 50,000 children are diagnosed with this condition each year.
This charity is close to my heart because my eldest daughter Katie was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome 10 years ago when she was just 3 years old.
There is currently no cure for Nephrotic syndrome, only treatments, but any donations will help fund lifechanging research to hopefully one day discover a cure for Nephrotic Syndrome.
